For nearly 60 years, Berkeley Preparatory School has thrived as a result of the generosity and support of thousands of donors. This involvement helped the school develop into the respected and beloved educational institution that it is today. Berkeley is an independent school and does not receive financial support of local or federal tax dollars. In fact, Berkeley is entirely dependent on revenue from tuition and the generosity of our current and past parents, grandparents, alumni, faculty, and community friends in private gifts.
The Office of Institutional Advancement is dedicated to raising funds to ensure that Berkeley maintains the integrity of its academic environment. Families choose Berkeley for their children because it is where leadership, vision, integrity, and virtue thrive. It is where community service, the love of learning, and self-confidence are instilled in our children. It will be the ongoing generosity and participation of alumni, current and past families, faculty, and community friends that will ensure that the standards of academic excellence set forth in our mission remains for the generations to follow.

Why We Support Berkeley
Early childhood and elementary education are so important because a love of lifelong learning can be nurtured and developed in line with Berkeley’s core values. We had an incredible opportunity to be a positive multiplier, impacting generations to come. Creating an environment for our exceptional teachers to thrive can only help them be their very best every day, not to mention help Berkeley recruit more great teachers. At the end of the day, it’s the dedicated and passionate teachers that make the difference.Giving is critical, as tuition covers basic operations, and that’s important for the community to understand. Moving to our current campus in 1979, building new buildings, and having an endowment requires additional investment on behalf of the entire community. Berkeley has been fortunate to have a lineage of substantial donors. In addition to the direct impact of the physical environment, we hope to inspire future families to give significantly to Berkeley, which will benefit not only their children, but future generations, too.Francesca and Richard Forsyth

Why I Support Berkeley
Cynthia Heath, who currently lives in Charlotte, is a proud supporter of Berkeley and served as Grandparent Chair for the 2021-22 school year.My late husband, David, and I believed that education is the tool that breaks down all barriers, for both the individual and in our society. We strived to provide the best educational opportunities for our two girls. As a grandparent, I think it is just as important to support our grandchildren in the same way. We understand that tuition alone cannot support the needs of the school and its students. Giving to the Berkeley Fund ensures that both expected and unexpected needs can be met. Further, we believe capital improvements enhance the educational experiences of our grandchildren. One of my philanthropic principles is to support organizations that help improve the communities in which my children and grandchildren live because a better community for all is a better place for them as well. Why I Support Berkeley
To be able to contribute, even a little, to a place like Berkeley is something I never give a second thought to because of all the amazing things the school does for each student and faculty member to help everyone be successful. You don’t have to look far to see the results of the support. Everything, including the furniture in the classrooms, the instruments and music equipment in the orchestra, the band and choir rooms, and the digital side of things—all of it contributes to making each student and teacher successful, as well as making every place on campus comfortable and beautiful. While we have amazing parents who give to Berkeley in many ways, faculty giving shows how we don’t just see this as a “job.” Together, we can truly help make Berkeley an even more amazing place for our students and ourselves.Ron Dillard

Founded in 1960, Berkeley is an independent, Episcopal, college-preparatory day school located in Tampa, FL, for boys and girls in grades Pre-Kindergarten through 12. Approximately 1,400 students gather here from the greater Tampa Bay area to form ONE Berkeley.
